I have built a number of companies based upon the identification of behavioural patterns from large datasets. I first utilised this in life insurance, through data analytics we were able to predict decision point time frames, ideal cover level and acceptable annual premiums. We based this on a range of interconnected factors, age, suburb, occupational category, personal circumstances (partners, children, mortgage etc). Our business was recognised as having double the conversion rate of competitors, and went from startup to the largest life insurance broker in Australia in just 5 years. Upon selling this business I embarked on the task of using phone usage patterns to predict behaviours, with a focus on mental health. We developed data collection technology and algorithms, provided a free app to test our technology. This has collected data on over 900,000 users. We were then approached, and subsequently partnered with Lockheed Martin and DARPA to try and predict PTSD instances. We have also used our technology to predict problem gambling behaviours.
