Background
Over 150 years old and still going strong, Sainsbury’s are the UK’s second-biggest retailer. Every day, the nation shops with us because they know they’ll get affordable, good food and excellent service.
We've put food back at the heart of our business and we’re taking Sainsbury’s to the next level. We’re investing in technology and people and we’re thinking bigger about how we attract and connect with our customers, while doing everything we can to create a more resilient UK food system.
As part of this ambition, we’re focused on helping customers make healthier choices. That’s why we’re seeking innovative ingredients, processes, or packaging solutions that can improve or maintain the nutritional value of our products. Enhancing nutrition, while preserving taste, quality, and affordability will allow us to highlight health benefits on-pack and support our goal of selling more healthy food. This is a key step in making nutritious options more accessible and appealing to all our customers.
Challenge

Some of the areas of interest that Sainsbury's are interested in investigating are:
- Fortification,
- Microencapsulation
- Novel ingredients,
- Innovative processes
- Packaging
Also within scope are solutions that apply to pet food. Solutions should have the relevant accreditation for label claims.
Sainsbury's are seeking a wide range of global solutions at any stage of development.
