Background
Mondelez R&D are seeking to to build a validated foundation of insights that will shape the long-term R&D capability strategy – moving from a short-term (2-year) plan to a future-focused, muti-year strategy.
Our project goal is to future-proof R&D by developing a strategic learning roadmap that identifies the critical capabilities needed 3-5 years from now. This roadmap will then inform a detailed learning strategy and activation plan, designed to close the identified skills gaps, and proactively prepare R&D for its future-state role.
Challenge
Our project goal is to identify the future state of R&D at Mondelez International and build a long-term innovative learning and capability strategy that:
- Defines the skills and competencies needed to thrive in that future state
- Aligns learning across sub-function teams based on their evolving roles
- Supports broader people strategy outcomes
Mondelēz International is embarking on a strategic initiative to define the future capabilities required across our global R&D function. This effort aims to provide a forward-looking outlook—3 to 5 years ahead—on the leadership behaviours, functional mindsets, and technical skills that will be essential for R&D to deliver innovation, drive agility, and stay competitive.
We are seeking external insights and benchmarking on how other leading organizations are identifying and preparing for future skills in their R&D or innovation-focused teams. Specifically, we’re interested in how companies are proactively shaping their learning strategies to close capability gaps and future-proof their technical and leadership talent in a rapidly evolving landscape.
