Background
Heathrow is Britain's busiest airport, serving millions of passengers every year and is in the top 10 International Airport worldwide.
There are more than 70,000 people employed at Heathrow through all the organisations that are needed to ensure its smooth operation.
Insight
Heathrow wants to deliver a reliable, predictable and inclusive service for all our passengers – whatever their needs.
With an aging population, change in the passenger demographics since COVID and a better understanding of passenger needs it is putting pressure on our Assistance Service. There is one offering primarily targeted around mobility issues. There is now an increasing awareness that efforts need to be focused on assisting travellers who have non-visible disabilities.
Heathrow has a principle of inclusivity and accessible, open to all and so it is looking for ideas to enable more self service so all passengers can the products and service the airport has to offer and have a great experience.
Any solutions must be able to demonstrate compliance with the Cyber, Security and GDPR standards that apply to critical national infrastructure.
The scope includes those departing and arriving at Heathrow. Excluded from this initiative, though no less important, are ideas around our current Assistance Offering (wheelchairs & multi- people movers etc) and Operation, language translation solutions and general wayfinding.
