Summary

Background

Cenovus Energy Inc. is an integrated energy company with oil and natural gas production operations in Canada and the Asia Pacific region, and upgrading, refining and marketing operations in Canada and the United States.

Challenge

The presence of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) in source waters used in drilling fluids can introduce and result in, in-situ generation of H2S and therefore lead to the contamination of oil and gas fields. Biocide treatment of the source water is the current method used to prevent this.

Cenovus Energy are seeking innovative solutions and alternatives to the current method in place. New methods should provide a cost or effectivity advantage to current biocide treatment. Methods can include both chemical methods or alternatives to chemical addition.

Solutions can be at any stage of development, from in-concept to ready to market.

What's in it for you?

Cenovus would be interested in proceeding with lab testing. Following successful lab testing and commercial viability the solution would be used to treat source water for Cenovus.
