Summary

Background

The Australian Meat Processor Corporation (AMPC) is the research, development and adoption (R&D&A) body for Australian red meat processors. AMPC are funded through mandatory statutory levies provided by our industry, Co-funding opportunities and can leverage Commonwealth matched funding.

Within AMPC's strategic plan there are five key research programs:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Sustainability
  • People and Culture
  • Technical Market Access and Markets
  • Product and Process Integrity

AMPC contracts providers and engages with processors to undertake R&D in these areas. AMPC are looking for innovative solutions to the problems and challenges faced by red meat processors.

Challenge

AMPC is seeking innovative solutions for protective equipment alternatives. Current protective equipment solutions that exist in the meat industry, for example chain mesh, can be heavy, uncomfortable, expensive and sometimes not-reusable.

Proposals for alternate solutions should ideally be:

  • Being utilised in other industries
  • Cost effective
  • Ergonomic ie light weight
  • Meets hygiene and QA standards ie can be washed or cleaned easily, robust, no loose/ moving parts
  • Meets high levels of cut resistance or cut protection

Solutions are ideally commercially or prototype available, however solutions that are at the idea stage are welcome to apply.

Proposal Requirements

Proposals should:

  • Present a clear, innovative solution for alternate protective equipment
  • Demonstrate benefits of alternate solution eg. lightweight, price point, re-usability etc.
  • Include detailed descriptions of the proposed alternative protective equipment
  • Highlight the feasibility and scalability of the proposed solution, including manufacture location

Submission Details

Interested parties are invited to submit their proposals through the Leading Edge Only platform. The submission should include:

  • A comprehensive description of the proposed solution.
  • Evidence of the solution's potential impact.
  • If relevant: any supporting data or research that validates the proposal.
