About
I am interested in creating an AR navigator app which enables you to find your gate and other airport facilities via a path or arrows laid out in front of you.
You open the app, select where you want to go, your camera displays the view in front of you via its camera video feed, and uses a combination of computer vision AI and bluetooth to asses your current position in the in the airport.
It then lays out arrows or a path in front of you indicating where you need to go to get to your destination and the expected travel time from where you are (i.e.travel time to gate).
This could be adapted for blind users to give voice navigation instructions and/or provide tonal way finding options as well as alert to obtacles dected live via the computer vision AI (somewhat like collision detection in driverless cars).
While not its primary purpose this could also include game-like features to enterain (children) while at the airport also (a pokemon-go-esq experience). These could be sponsored by retailers.
The application would also apply equally well to large train stations and shopping centres, enabling totem maps to be replaced with something functionally directly useful the customer - vs, a map and a you are here pin.
