About

Continuous-Feed Solid-State Fermentation Module For Mushroom Production Tech ID: UA19-251 Invention: This technology is a continuous-feed solid state fermentation system to extend the effective commercial mushroom production cycle. Mushrooms can be cultured for food, fuel, and pharmaceuticals. Background: Current culturing of mushrooms consist of liquid or submerged fermentation. Mushrooms are also grown in solid-state fermentation in a single-feed process. Though with this process after the mushroom is produced the nutrients are depleted. When cultivating mushrooms there are a variety of issues that can occur that can affect the quality and outcome of the mushrooms. Some of these issues include low moisture, poor environment, and low air exchange. With the proposed technology the cultivation of the product is tightly controlled and predictable that it meets the conditions for space travel.

Key Benefits

- Higher precision in delivery of nutrients - Opportunity to manipulate the nutritional profile of the substrate - Decrease work requirement - Maintain high-quality

Applications

Culturing microorganisms for: - Food - Pharmaceuticals - Fuel
