About
Summary With 63.4 million hand-held devices expected to be sold in 2004, the popularity of these devices is expanding worldwide. Although the use of hand-held devices is increasing, the current input technology burdens the user because they face a steep learning curve, are unable to input text in their natural style, and must use character by character input. This is where E-Writer comes in. User Inputs - User writes in normal script and the writing appears on the screen. Word Display - E-Writer then processes the script and presents the most likely word by computing an internally generated candidate list of ranked confidence values. Correction - If E-Writer displays the incorrect word, the user accesses the candidate list and chooses the correct word.
