BRIMM drives transformation of the mining sector by connecting the unique insights of researchers and industry to generate solutions for the benefit of the economy, society and the environment. – BRIMM vision statement The Bradshaw Research Initiative for Minerals and Mining, or BRIMM, was founded in 2017 to connect scientists and engineers across the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, to promote cross-disciplinary research spanning the entire life-cycle of mining, from early exploration to mine closure and rehabilitation. BRIMM recognizes that the industry is always looking for better, faster, cleaner, and more cost-effective methods for exploration, mineral extraction, remediation, and mining operations. We provide this by breaking through traditional research silos to combine expertise and create innovative solutions. By working across the UBC campus, we have access to top minds in the fields of Mining Engineering, Microbiology, Geology, Business, Policy, Data Science and more. It is through these connections that we can find the perfect team of researchers for the big mining problems of today. We operate primarily within the Faculties of Science and Applied Science at UBC, connecting several centres of excellence including the Norman B. Keevil Institute for Mining Engineering (NBK), the Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU), and the Hydromet Group. Current Research Themes Are: > Mining Microbiome > Ore-Body Knowledge > Sustainable Mine Energy Systems > Water Stewardship https://brimm.ubc.ca/
