Douglas joined IGS in 2015, originally to project manage the development and construction of the company’s first vertical farming facility at Invergowrie, near Dundee. To transition IGS from R&D to a commercial business, Douglas adopted the role of Product Manager, responsible for overseeing all product development from idea to launch ensuring market demands are met and IGS remain competitive. Douglas is now Head of Vertical Farming Solutions which connects customers to the right solutions within IGS and ensures IGS continues to offer the best vertical farming solutions going forward. Douglas has a Masters degree in Mining Geology and following a brief spell in the quarrying sector, he began a career as a Geologist in onshore Oil & Gas. His focus was on unconventional resources in the UK and Poland for 7 years. He was part of the team that achieved the first commercial unconventional gas flowrate in Europe, also managing the company’s Belgian assets. This background offered a strong foundation in Project Management, Science, Engineering, Energy and Economics which Douglas has used and built upon during his time at IGS.
