As a product manager, you understand the enabling mechanism (E.g.: software), the business imperatives and objectives, and most importantly the customer needs and experience. After 4 years at eBay as a product manager and after demonstrating my skills and insights, I was asked to establish eBay's first innovation lab. Within a year we were 30 with an annual budget approaching £6m. Driving innovation programmes in existing businesses, and inventing business models, software and hardware products is where the Consultingly sweet spot exists.
