Muhammad Inayat (PhD)

Dr. Muhammad Inayat is a dedicated researcher and development manager specializing in sustainable agriculture and aquaculture systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore. His doctoral research focused on optimizing integrated agriculture-livestock-based fish farming systems, contributing valuable insights into enhancing production efficiency and environmental sustainability.With over five years of experience, Dr. Inayat is Manager of Research & Development at Ful-Foods Pvt Ltd, Islamabad, driving innovation in agri-tech. He leads multidisciplinary agri-aquaculture R&D projects focused on sustainability and innovation, coordinating teams and promoting nutrient recycling to reduce environmental impact. He pioneers replacing imported soybean protein with duckweed-based alternatives in animal feed and has successfully cultivated aquatic plants like duckweed and azolla in open pond raceway systems.Ful Foods is working to make livestock farming more efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly for large-scale producers across Pakistan.Dr. Inayat is strongly committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:• SDG 2: Zero Hunger: by developing integrated agri-aquaculture systems that enhance food security through diversified and sustainable protein sources.• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production: by promoting circular economy principles that optimize resource use, reduce waste, and valorize agricultural by-products as feed inputs.• SDG 13: Climate Action: by implementing low-impact agri-aquaculture practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance ecosystem resilience.• SDG 14: Life Below Water: by fostering sustainable aquaculture techniques that maintain aquatic biodiversity and improve water quality.Previously, Dr. Inayat worked as a research associate in a PARB-funded project at the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Ravi campus. In this project, I have worked on different experiments, including rice-fish co-culture, rice-duck co-culture, and fish-cum-poultry systems. Additionally, he also worked as a resident tutor at Abdul Sattar Edhi Hall, UVAS, A Block, Ravi campus. He managed hostel activities, ensured student well-being, maintained discipline, and coordinated with staff and administration.
