While growing up in Zimbabwe I developed a keen interest in sport and was particularly interested in the engineering and design that goes into sporting equipment. After competing as a professional triathlete for 3 years I chose to study Sports Technology at Loughborough University, a very prestigious sports and engineering university in the UK. This degree program focused on the engineering, design, development, and manufacture of sports equipment. Since graduating, I have worked predominantly in the bicycle industry. I have spent long periods of time working in the Far East with suppliers and manufacturers, and with retailers and brands in the UK, always learning as much as possible. My experience is broad and covers the technical, design and safety requirements of wheeled goods, as well as production, distribution, and omni-channel marketing. I have experience working with high volume mass-market product for high street retailers and lower volume high spec “boutique” products too. Most recently, I setup and ran the Northern Hemisphere operations for a well-established Australian wheeled goods manufacturer. This new Northern Hemisphere business was started from scratch in 2018 and, in the last 4 years, turned over USD$21M.
