CHIMERA Energy has produced a revolutionary Multi Chemistry Battery (MCB) and Battery Management System (BMS) that enables different chemistries in a pack to address the balance of energy and power demands within a given application. By mixing chemistries, the technology can mitigate the weakness of one type with the strengths of another. Not only that, but it can leverage the chemistry attributes specifically to a vehicle’s behaviour for optimal performance. This ensures an extended lifetime, improved safety, unrivalled scalability and a considerable cost reduction. The battery solution also uses packs constructed with proprietary weld-free technology designed to access components easily for re-manufacture and second-life potential, enabling a reduction in raw materials, waste and transportation to address the Circular Economy.
The Founder and CTO, Chris Hale, has gained knowledge over the last 24 years leading battery developments, including the first Li-ion battery system to enter service with the Ministry of Defence and the first Lithium Sulphur battery system for a manned electric aircraft. As a member to a battery lobby group he has been influential to future battery legislation & providing great insight to future requirements, where he is still acting as a published authority and innovator.
