About

Summary The present invention relates to a method of identifying strategies for the treatment and prevention of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia.   Potential Commercial Applications - New protocol for the initiation of ventricular fibrillation. - Provides a model to study VF that more closely simulates its actual occurrence.   Potential Advantages - A clinically-oriented computer model of VF was developed, with significant implications for further research on treatment and prevention of VF. - This technology artificially recreates VF more realistically, whereas other existing methods of inducing VF do not satisfactorily approximate its clinical occurrence. - While current treatments and preventative therapies have little or no effect on VF, and while defibrillators can cause cardiac muscle damage, this innovation provides a more suitable model for studying treatments and therapies.
