The Vanguard™ line is a groundbreaking new line of molded fiber food packaging that is water and grease resistant. Products are made from sugarcane and use a proprietary alternative chemistry to achieve grease resistance performance without the addition of fluorinated compounds. Trays, pots, bowls, plates and clamshells, among other products, can be manufactured using Vanguard™ molded fibre. The Vanguard™ line uses an innovative new formula that does not require the addition of fluorinated chemicals (PFAS) for grease resistance. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a class of synthetic chemicals used in many products to impart water and grease resistant properties. While some PFAS additives are found to be safe for their intended use as a food contact substance, the Vanguard(TM) line uses alternative and approved chemistries to achieve similar performance without the use of PFAS. We recognize that a number of restaurants, grocery chains, government contracts and municipalities prefer foodservice products that don’t contain PFAS. As a leader in innovation in foodservice packaging, we worked hard to find a new formula that does not require the use of PFAS to meet customer needs. The Vanguard™ line is one more way we are able to deliver choices to our partners that are unavailable anywhere else.
Key Benefits
Using Vanguard™ will help our partners eliminate single use plastics from their business, by providing a sustainable and renewable alternative. Sugarcane pulp, commonly known as bagasse, is used to manufacture Vanguard™ products. This is a byproduct of the sugar industry and would otherwise be discarded or incinerated. Through doing so they will be using a market leading material which uses proprietary alternative chemistry to achieve water and grease resistance without the use of PFAS, technology which is only available from Eco-Products. Products are also recyclable if not contaminated with food waste and compostable when contaminated with food waste.
