We propose a 3D modeling service to simulate the microclimate around potential urban projects in order to compare each other in terms of efficiency in regard to resilience, taking into account components like sun exposure, temperature, wind speed, and direction, humidity, etc. This service aims to assist city planners in the decision process, the modelization helps them to select the project bringing the more resilience, with a data-driven approach.
Key Benefits
Our simulations have double benefits. We obtain the optimum urban development strategies for new or renovated neighbourhoods to increase outdoor comfort levels and reduce energy consumption for cooling demands. The actual benefits are difficult to quantify as they vary on case to case basis due to the complexity of simulated physical phenomena. For example, simulation of tree implementation in one particular neighborhood led to a variation of lower mean temperature of 2.5°C to 0.9°C from one street to another which attain benefits from lower health risk to lower cooling demand in buildings.
