About

This novel technology consists of a sequence of coded illumination patterns generated via a digital micromirror device (DMD) coupled with a continuous wave (CW) laser to light up the target. A high dynamic range (HDR) commercially available camera records the sequence of images of the spatially, light modulated target. Thus, the novel technique helps to reduce backscattering effects on the images while allowing for enhanced image filtering during the recovery process, where a non-local-mean based noise reduction filter helps to achieve the highest degree of image contrast enhancement while simultaneously capturing details of low reflectance objects of interest.
