Superior mechanical proper ties. High resistance against elevated temperature.

About

Invention Magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC) was utilized in the newly developed advanced fiber reinforced strengthening/retrofitting composite system. The new composite system has superior mechanical proper ties as well as higher resistance against elevated temperature. In structural engineering applications, the new composite system can be used for strengthening or retrofitting of an existing structure, or as an alternative to steel as reinforcing material for structural elements.   Marketing Opportunity The epoxy polymer matrix of conventional fiber reinforced plastic system softens at its glass transition temperature of around 70 ºC and releases toxic gases. The novel inorganic MOC matrix has a lower cost and is more durable against elevated temperature, ultraviolet radiation, chemicals and mechanical abrasions. In addition, the lower alkalinity of MOC makes it suitable for the use of glass fiber in the matrix while avoiding fiber aging issues. With the optimization of selected mineral and chemical mixtures, a wide range of physical strengths and proper ties can be customized for different applications and working conditions.   Key Benefits Superior mechanical proper ties High resistance against elevated temperature
