Project Cool is a product designed to replace the diesel engine typically used on cold chain vehicles to power the refrigeration unit. These diesel engines are not subject to the same emissions regulations as the vehicle and are a significant source of CO2, NOx, and noise.
EU and California CARB regulations require significant reductions by the end of the 2020s. CARB requires all cold chain vehicles to have electrical refrigeration systems by 2029, with an obligation to retrofit older vehicles. The EU requires a 15% reduction in CO2 by 2030.
Key Benefits
A typical cold chain vehicle will use over 200 ltrs. of diesel fuel a week for emitting over 500kg of CO2e every week. With over 1.5M cold chain vehicles on the roads in Europe and the USA, there is an opportunity to make a significant impact on vehicle emissions. 1M tonnes of CO2e could be cit from emissions by with 40 000 cold chain vehicles, less than 3% of the active fleet, converted to a Project Cool system.
The system can be charged on the go by solar panels located on the vehicle/trailer roof and a axle mounted KERS units. The smart control system can also be integrated in to warehouse and depot smart grid systems to provide local load balance and smart charging to minimise area load and charging costs through the systems V2G software.
Apart from the emissions reductions, significant fuel savings can be achieved with their associated reduction in costs and engine maintenance.

OE manufacturers of cold chain vehicles and trailers. Fleet operators such as food delivery, retail business fleets requiring cold chain delivery. Cold chain vehicles, especially trailers, have expected lives of more than ten years so the system is designed to be retrofit to vehicles and trailers with limited downtime to operators.
