It has a tuneable range of properties resulting in fuels configured for safer nuclear power generation.

About

Description: When compared to conventional bulk UO2 fuels, slurries of UO2 nanocrystals and/or UO2-Carbon nanocomposites in water are a potential, and superior, liquid fuels option for nuclear power production. The technology comprises the synthesis of water-dispersible UO2 nanocrystals and UO2-Carbon nanocomposites.  Resulting UO2-Carbon nanocomposites have a variety of structural morphologies, and a tuneable range of properties resulting in fuels configured for safer nuclear power generation. Features of UO2-Carbon nanocomposite:  - Lower cost of production  - Improved reactor operating efficiencies due to removal of neutron absorbing fission products  - Improved accident tolerance  - Modularized for rapid assembly & mobility  - Efficient disassembly and reprocessing  - Resistant to proliferation
