About

Polymer Foams from 1,2,4,5-Tetrazine and Polydienes Tech ID: UA17-187 Invention: This invention is an optimized synthesis of parent 1,2,4,5 tetrazine and polydienes, which is capable of creating a solid polymeric foam with as little as 5 mol% tetrazine. Background: Polymer foams are found virtually everywhere in our society and are used in a variety of applications. Said foams can be produced through different methods such like pouring slab-stock, extrusion and molding. The technology presented here is a tetrazine synthesis that is more soluble in polymers than previously reported methods while additionally creating a residual tetrazine free colorless foam. Status: issued U.S. patent #10,731,018

Key Benefits

Prevents cross-linking Inexpensive Increases thermal stability of the resulting polymer Lack of reactive chloro groups Colorless Increased solubility Uniform Antioxidant properties

Applications

Disposable packaging for products Insulation material
