Establishing new drug entities / Improved processing.

About

The phenomenon of polymorphism, the ability of a compound to crystallize into more than one distinct crystal species, is a major factor in the pharmaceutical industry. Gas pressurization can be used to convert polymorphs of pharmaceutical agents with ease. However, current processing methods are often lengthy and can involve the use of high temperature at great expense to the industrial sector. Our facile method of polymorph transformation eliminates the need for such measures, and offers vast potential for streamlining the processing of pharmaceutical agents, with a concomitant savings in energy costs while potentially creating new pharmaceutical entities and patent extensions. In short this innovation provides a new and improved method for controlling phase transitions among the polymorphic forms of an organic solid.   Key Benefits: Establishing new drug entities with the potential to extend patient life Improved efficiency in processing with significant cost savings   Applications: Potential applications in the field of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing   IP Status: Demonstrated with server marketed drugs; Patent Pending.
