Seniors are living for longer than ever and so in one sense are younger than ever but they are still not invincible. With an ever increasing aging population and increasing numbers of lone workers, Acticheck Ltd has identified a need for enhanced personal monitoring which fits with a modern lifestyle and have developed features beyond the systems currently on the market. Current personal alert systems rely on a call button worn around the neck or on the wrist and linked to a telephone call centre system. These systems are alerted if the user is able to press the alarm button. However, this is a one way system with no data exchange between the call system and the call centre, hence, if the user falls or becomes incapacitated, no alarm is raised. The secure, cloud based system developed by Acticheck Ltd allows 24 hour monitoring of activity via the internet. It can therefore alert even if the user is unable to press a button.  The system does not require a central call centre and hence the cost to the user is lower than traditional personal alert systems. Acticheck Ltd envisages that the system they have developed will have a wide range of applications from  solo seniors or folk in their sheltered or care homes to lone workers and solo sports people. For people with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, epilepsy or even people with allergies that require rapid injections of adrenaline, the system provides an additional level of safety and security.  Persistent, personal and non-pestering monitoring  The only personal monitor and alert designed to be worn 24/7. The system offers: •    A fully waterproof design meaning it can be worn in the shower or bath •    1yr battery life – no need to change batteries or forget to change batteries •    Regular reporting from the device to a central console that is not dependent on user activitation •    Squeeze trigger to raise an alarm by the user means no false user activations   Worn logic The system  is able to detect whether the wristband is being work using feedback form the smartband . If it detects that it is not being worn it can notify pre-defined administrators (e.g. relatives, carers) so action can be taken.   Wellness checks To periodically check that the user is OK, the band vibrates at a time(s) of the wearers choosing. They simply confirm they are OK by pressing a single button on the wristband. This is a unique feature of the device that no other system on the market can offer. It enables much faster action to a no response thus enabling possibly lifesaving intervention.  Home & garden range The smartband has a range of up to 100m from the base station. This enables the wearer to move outside of the home and partake in their usual activities such as gardening, putting out the rubbish. Other household monitoring systems cannot offer this range.     Abnormal movement that could be a fall The band incorporates technology to constantly monitoring for high impact and, if this is followed by lack of movement will raise an alarm to the administrators/carers that this could be a possible fall.    Automated system The monitoring system is cloud based and does not operate on a traditional human based call centre.  The system gives the wearer two opportunities to cancel alerts (by pressing a button or by answering an automated call) before alerting a pre-defined list of friends, family, neighbours, carers until one confirms they will assist.   Security The system uses the latest encryption technology  to safely store information about the user such as how to access their home in the event of an emergency. This information will only be released to a named contact.   Connecting people Administrator with permission can view and manage the wearers account allowing them to see activity, alarms etc, WCarers are also notified if the system goes offline, say through a power or internet outage, and can get a daily email confirming the wearer is up & active; giving peace of mind night & day.
