Nomadic Drones enhances power line oversight, offering a self-recharging drone for scalable inspections and a risk management software platform, ensuring efficient maintenance.
About
We are building a drone that recharges itself on power lines and performs inspections + software to analyze the collected data and assign maintenance tasks. Within our software is a ML-model trained to detect damages on transmission towers which automates most of the review process. To recharge the drone we are using the alternating magnetic field around the wire.
Because our drone is both autonomous and recharges itself we don’t need operators, which removes the highest cost for inspections - people.
Key Benefits
Nomadic Drones make visual power line inspection of overhead transmission and distribution lines efficient and scalable with our autonomous inspection drones. These drones can charge themselves on the lines, requiring no additional infrastructure, while covering a larger area faster and safer than current methods. Our software platform empowers inspection review teams to provide objective information and guide data-driven maintenance work orders to prevent power outages and wildfires. This approach is more scalable and streamlined, meeting today's needs and preparing for future grid demands by making the grid more resilient.
Applications
Our initial customers will be subcontractors of the utility companies who use our software to speed up data processing and analysis, and make communications with utilities more efficient. Next, our primary target will be to sell both the software and the drone inspection service to utility companies directly, providing an end-to-end solution.
