Summary Various nanoparticle (NP) shapes to tune the relaxivity of magnetic NP’s as T1 contrast agents for MRI, primarily ferrite NPs, such as iron oxide, manganese ferrite, zinc ferrite, and copper ferrite. This technology has the ability to modifty structure of the contrast agent into whiskers, plate or wire shapes, which allows not only the effectiveness of the contrast agent to be improved, but also targeting imaging is realized and further enhance the residence time.
