This technology improves performance of point-of-care diagnostics by utilizing cell phone images, a video processing algorithm and an image saturation analysis algorithm.

About

This technology utilizes two methods to improve performance of point-of-care diagnostics that utilize cell phone images, a video processing algorithm and an image saturation analysis algorithm. The smartphone video processing method selects the best image frames in a video set which results in improved performance of a diagnostic assay. Additionally, the developed algorithm tracks ROIs from frame to frame through a video given a set of initial coordinates. The algorithm also identifies and rejects blurred images, images with excessive white-balancing, and images that may have other issues including glare and reflection. The developed algorithm only requires 20 seconds of video and can easily be integrated with existing image processing methods.
