About
New gesture control technology that can turn everyday objects into remote controls could revolutionise how we interact with devices. The ‘MatchPoint’ technology, only requires a simple webcam and works by displaying moving targets on a screen. These targets can correspond to different functions – such as viewing a menu or changing parameters. The user synchronises with the movement of the target, with their hand, head or an object, which activates the desired function and Users do not need to learn specific commands to activate different functions, as is the case with existing touchless gesture techniques, and then user is able to decouple at will. Unlike existing gesture control technology, the software does not look for a specific body part it has been trained to identify – such as a hand, doesn’t require calibration or prior knowledge of objects, and users can use any posture whilst interacting.
Key Benefits
· Requires only a webcam · Low computational overhead · Posture-agnostic · Modality-agnostic · No calibration required · No training required · Makes no assumption of users
Applications
- Entertainment · Medical Environments · Automotive · Hospitality · Accessibility · Industry 4.0
