This device provides real-time visualization of the anatomy that is not currently achievable and also reduces burden of accessing and sampling lung tumors.

About

Summary Researchers at Stanford have developed a lung imaging method and related biopsy/treatment device. The imaging method provides a real-time, low-complication framework for improved ultrasound imaging of lung tissue and lung tumors. Novel imaging catheters, when paired with the imaging method, provide optimized visualization of lung tumors and robust sampling tool angulation in traditionally hard-to-access locations. Other areas of application for the imaging method, device or their combination include the gastrointestinal system, the biliary system, pancreas and the cardiovascular system.
