Non-intrusive Partial Discharge monitoring for power cables designed to be cost effectively deployed on large scale cables. The solution is a digital twin technology, and the implementation starts with digitization of the assets with asset parameters. Based on these parameters the digital twin will be assigned monitoring limits (HFCT PD monitoring for XLPE and oil cables. The oil cables can also be monitored for oil level in cable head. All monitoring devices are long range wireless, but several SIM LTE Routers will need to be installed at approx. 5-10km apart to collect data from all the sensors. The alarms levels can be dynamically created by software based on cable properties or tuned manually. A complete list of electrical tests is automatically created when each asset is created, and all the testing being done afterwards (if any) is trended online which further helps in understanding the condition of the cables. Visual Thermal issues detected also complement to the cable condition assessment as it is also automatically analyzed in the cloud.
The main parameter for cables health condition assessment will be wireless PD monitoring which will include HFCT installed on one end of the cable sheet (for cables which are not cross bonded). The unit is wireless and can be delivered with solar power supply for installation at locations where power supply is not available.
