Bridging the gap between the real world and simulation, the ICL Digital Twin enables the energy efficient design & continuous operational optimisation of entire groups of buildings
About
The ICL is an interconnected suite of tools designed to analyse the energy performance of multiple buildings and address their simultaneous operational performance and the energy systems supporting them. The tools are suitable for anyone interested in energy efficiency and sustainability - from Architects, Engineers and Developers, to City Planners, ESCOs, Sustainability, Energy and Facilities Managers. Users can collaborate through the shared platform, assess the impact of community-wide solutions and renewables and make informed decisions to significantly improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Building on IES’ strong analytical past, the ICL incorporates the latest digital technology to link physics-based simulation with the Internet of Things (IOT) data, sensor readings, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) into one interconnected platform. All of the tools are the result of significant research and development by our team, and have been subject to rigorous testing through pilot projects around the world. This has enabled us to demonstrate proven results through research dissemination and real world case study examples.
Key Benefits
We have numerous project case studies which demonstrate the benefits of our ICL tools. Notable outcomes include: • Identifying 31% energy savings, S$4.7M cost savings and 9.6kt carbon savings for the NTU EcoCampus, Singapore • Identifying 26% gas savings, 18% electricity savings and £52.3k annual cost savings for Glasgow’s Riverside Museum • Uncovering energy demand reductions of 22.5% (gas) and 30% (electricity) for Barts Health NHS Trust • Identifying how NZEB status could be achieved on Eday, with 76% total energy savings in a payback less than 6 years • Uncovering 12% energy savings for an existing net-zero energy building within the BCA Academy Campus, Singapore
