Eliminate manual time writing with a combination of easily integratable standard mobile software, wearable devices, sensors, datalogging with full offline capability
About
The solution enables technicians with occupied hands to register time spent on tasks automatically, minimizing technician attention requirement and admin time, whilst simultaneously providing a more accurate documentation of time consumed and services provided. It is scalable in nature and allows expanding the time writing automation from a simple mobile application software to include NFC-technology, a wearable device that includes a manual switch and visual and audio indications on start/stop. Software The standard mobile application software has a web-based reporting feature and a designer module that enables a quick and user-friendly way to create or modify mobile applications used. The software automatically registers time, GPS position and user, keeping user input to a minimum. As standard, unique job IDs can be created and assigned to each job performed, and It can easily be expanded to include activity management and more expanded asset management functionality. Equipment and assets can be uniquely identified easily with either QR-codes, NFC-tags, or sensors/transmitters that communicate with the wearable device. The software can be set up to combine work instructions and documentation of work performed whilst time writing works automatically at the same time, and even to include checking and documenting tool checks and inspections. It comes with and API that allows the software to be easily integrated with most other software packages, whether in the form a ERPs, asset management systems, SCADA systems, or the like. It also integrates well with robots/cobots like drones etc. If needed, Augmented Reality (AR) features can be built into the software package as well. If the equipment/asset position is known and fixed, the software allows to set up perimeters that automatically start or stop time registration based on distance from the equipment. If the equipment/asset is mobile, the software on the mobile device can connect to a transmitter unit (tracker) E.g. via Bluetooth to utilize relevant perimeters that automatically start or stop time registration. This could work either via GPS or via the signal range of the wearable (or mobile) device, based on preferences. Unless otherwise specified, data is hosted in Europe but the software is prepared to operate in a container on a cloud solution, or as an on-premise solution with remote support. Hardware The solution assumes technicians carry a standard mobile device (iOS or Android) that meets the requirements of the environmental conditions they work in. Alternatively, a mini-datalogger can be included to replace the mobile device in the solution. The simple expansion utilizes NFC to avoid touchless operation, which can be expanded with a battery-powered wearable switch carried within a flexible strap/band that allows significant flexibility regarding the positioning on the technician's body and avoids risk of dropping it. If the mini-datalogger options is preferred, this comes with a rechargeable battery with a product craddle to ensure correct positioning for recharging. It is possible to provide sensors for mounting on relevant assets to enable monitoring and (in turn) preventive maintenance activities using the same equipment as basis. Options: It is possible to utilize the wearable switch for other functionality such as an alarm-button for emergencies, accidents, which automatically E.g. flips on a Near-Miss-registration app on the mobile device. The individual parts of the solution are either commercially available, ready for market or beyond the prototype stage; the indicated stage of development is for the total solution. It can be made commercially available within a few months. The solution is provided by a consortium, i.e. it is possible to select the responsibly supplier if specific conditions require such measures.
Key Benefits
Technicians will be more productive and happier by not spending time on time writing - and potentially a number of other repetitive, admin-related tasks they perceive as a nuisance or distracts from their focus on tasks and tools - and instead spend more time on productive tasks. They will also be able to have hands free to handle tools to complete their jobs more efficiently and more safely. Automating time writing means it is done without delay and removes the risk of not recollecting jobs and time spent on them. HR, payroll and service/technical management will experience more reliable, precise and up-to-date registration of time. Fully deployed, the solution can form the basis of a fully digital service and maintenance operation.
Applications
The application target service, maintenance and repair operations in industrial settings with limited or no regular internet connection. It can easily be expanded to address Health & Safety, Quality assurance / Quality Control and similar areas where documentation, inspections, audits and similar where administration and reporting is paper- og PC-based.
