FarmLab enhances agri-business with tools for efficient soil, plant, and water analysis, offering transparent access to environmental data.

About

Founded in 2016 in Australia, FarmLab has rapidly grown to support commercial sampling operations across Australia, the US and Canada. FarmLab has recently expanded into the US, with operations headquartered out of Denver, CO.

Think of FarmLab like Uber for environmental sampling. FarmLab specialises in environmental data collection, providing both software and an ecosystem of samplers to support soil, plant and water sampling collection. The FarmLab platform and ecosystem is currently being used to coordinate the collection and measurement of over 25,000 soil measurements across 2,000 farms and 250,000 acres in Australia, and is being used to support over approximately $6 million of active environmental projects. Globally our software spans over 5,000 farms and has been used for tree planting projects in Kenya and soil health measurement projects in the US and India.

Key Benefits

FarmLab offers an integrated environmental management solution, bridging the gap between environmental testing laboratories, field samplers, and consultants (including agronomists and carbon developers). The platform simplifies the entire sample collection and testing process, seamlessly connecting samples with laboratories and mapping the results back. This streamlined approach ensures that farmers can access their data in a standardized and easily accessible format and that carbon credit generation is data backed by a clear and transparent measurement process.

FarmLab significantly reduces the data management overhead for consultants and laboratories, making environmental data more efficient and actionable. In essence, FarmLab's solution eliminates data silos, providing a clear and effective path for farmers to harness vital environmental information for sustainable decision-making and enhanced agricultural practices.

Today it is used for scope 3 emissions reduction programs across large multinationals in the US and Australia, as well as asset managers and farmers looking to bring environmental data to the forefront of their product stories.

Applications

FarmLab is currently being used across Australia and North America for environmental measurement. Some of the key projects we’re involved with include:

-       Since 2023 there have been a 15% month on month growth rate in new farms joining the project, and the platform is used to measure over 20% of Clean Energy Regulator projects.

-       FarmLab has been commissioned by the SA Government to lead a project in conjunction with FlintPro and Ruminati to calculate carbon stock and emissions for all of Kangaroo Island under a PIRSA-funded project, highlighting their expanding reach and profit potential.

-       In partnership with the University of Queensland, FarmLab is undertaking Australia’s largest carbon sampling project, covering over 430 farms and 15,000 samples.

-       FarmLab has been used with global project developers like Purprojet and RestoreTech. The platform has been used in various projects, from monitoring soil carbon for luxury wool growers to tree planting to offset emissions for Formula 1 racing teams.
