CFMS is a national centre for modelling and simulation with its own secure on-site data centre. It focuses on solving industry’s toughest challenges, through developing and applying the latest, cutting edge models and using its state of the art, secure supercomputer. This enables CFMS to unlock productivity for some of the largest and most innovative companies across industries such as Rolls-Royce, Airbus, National Gas, HS2, GWR, UK Space Agency, Jaguar Land Rover.

Reduced footprint:
- It is able to use advanced multi objective optimisation and our powerful data centre to consider 1000s of options and find the most optimal layout for a factory or warehouse - reducing the footprint for Jaguar Land Rover for example by 40%
Increased efficiency
- A 3 month project for HS2 that minimised the movement of large volumes of earth around different construction sites. This would be similar for factory movements. Agent based modelling has also been used
- Using graph theory and data centre level compute we optimised the route planning of overhead cranes and provided scenario planning by simulating faults in the system. This leads to faster installation, reduced operational times, reduced downtime and costs.
Increased robustness
- Using simulation to test and optimising different configurations of robots and AMRs before physically deploying them, reducing travel distances, optimising the number needed, and simulating failures to increase robustness
