Investment in renewable energy is been held back as funding models can’t predict return on Investment. Our Platform provides instant visibility of IRR on energy investments.
About
The PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) has become a standard financial instrument for investing in renewable energy installations. The Investors make the upfront investment in Wind, Solar, W2E etc. and get their returns from selling the energy as well as taking the Government subsidies which paid for all the power generated for twenty years. Since 2009 Government subsidies called generation tariffs paid for all energy generated and the payments were guaranteed for 20 years. These accelerated the growth in renewables however they ended on 31st March 2019 consequently investment in renewables stalled. We have developed a new PPA based on energy generation and battery storage without Government subsidies. The innovation is a unique financial model that can predict within 95% confidence, the returns on a renewable energy investment. For example investing in a solar installation, the returns will differ widely depending on many factors such as type of property, its location, occupancy and consumption profile. For a solar installation on a house our algorithms take into account: size of property, size/orientation and pitch of the roof, home electric usage, size of solar system, size of battery, variable grid tariffs (time of use, economy 7), grid network and system losses, type of occupancy (couple, family) and consumer behaviour. Through extensive research we have compiled huge amount of data on a wide variety of settings for residential, commercial and Public Sector buildings and different occupancy levels. We have built in real-time costs for the installation including site surveys, contracts/legals, grid connection charges, operation and maintenance, billing and collections, bad debt provision and system degradation. With this data our financial modelling can predict the long term returns on the investment. We are now building a Portal that will enable property owners such as Councils, private landlords, communities, commercial organisations as well as corporate investors and Institutional Funds to get a quick and accurate forecast of returns on investments. No other financial model can accurately provide such long term forecasts. AND WE ARE PROVING IT. Based on our financial model we are currently working with Investors to fund installation of free Solar+battery systems on 10,000 Social Housing properties on a PPA basis. The investment will generate 8-9% IRR over 20 years, provide 20-25% cheaper energy to low-income households and families suffering fuel poverty and create hundreds of jobs. The installations will start in 2Q 2021 and our target is to install on 100,000 properties by 2025. When completed this project will generate 400MW of clean energy and save 142,000 Tons of CO2 per year.
Key Benefits
Our Platform will enable investors to quickly discover the financial returns and Carbon savings from a variety of renewable energy systems that can be installed on a wide range of properties. This data can be used by stakeholders including property owners and occupiers, Councils, Corporates and Investors. Evergen Power Platform will provide IRR data on a range of investments and accelerate the transition to renewables, slashing GHG emissions and helping to achieve our Carbon reduction targets. As well as providing this valuable information our Platform will connect Investors with those looking for funding for their renewable energy projects.
Applications
According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance, almost 20 GW of renewable energy came from new PPA contracts globally in 2019, a number up 40% from the year before. With industry leaders like Google, Walmart, and Heineken transitioning to solar PPA it’s becoming a standard solution for forward-thinking corporations. Our target markets are (1) organisations looking to fund renewable energy installations - Councils, Housing Associations, private landlords, companies, Government Sector, NHS, schools etc (2) Funds & institutions looking for investment opportunities (3) corporations looking to invest for CSR/ESG (4) Installation companies looking for work (5) energy companies seeking sources of green energy
