E-Favor is an AI powered software tool designed and developed to deliver automated water leakage detection and localisation information in real-time for any scale of drinking water pipeline systems.


E-favor addresses accuracy and randomness issues for water leak detection (same results each run, eliminating randomness), particularly for plant scale water systems. e-Favor also does not need special water leak sensors, is easy to deploy, and easy to use by non-experts.

1) 100% accurate and successful leak localisation function. The success is evidenced by a major UK water company’s utilisation of the e-Favor tool since 2010 (14 years) . The company is currently expanding application of e-Favor from 30 regions into 100 regions.

2) e-Favor is a tailor-made technology for plant scale water systems implementation (in which the flow rates and headloss are comparatively low). e-Favor can successfully deal with uncertainties in the case that the error margin of measurement equipment is even larger than the small disturbance caused by a water leak, e.g. headloss caused by leakage <2mm. This capability is critical for water leak detection and localisation in plant scale water systems.

3) Detects smallest/hidden leaks, i.e. less than 1L/s flow rate. e-Favor can detect the smallest leaks from city-scale complex water systems with considerable flow rates, and thus the leaks in plant scale water systems are apparent for e-Favor to detect.

4) e-Favor does not need additional leak detection sensors. It can use data from normal pressure loggers and flow meters that have already been installed in a system (even portable loggers to save cost and avoid intrusive installations in the systems).

5) e-Favor uses a series of techniques to realise the ‘data -> information -> knowledge’ process efficiently. The methods allow us to deal with high uncertainty caused by inaccurate/faulty measurements.

6) Automated sensor placement. E-Favor can either adopt existing sensor locations from a system or suggest optimal sensor placement plan by using its AI-based sensor placement tool. An EU water company has applied e-Favor to guide placement of water meters and pressure sensors in their system, for future water leak detections.
