A novel Brushless DC (BLDC) motor system design

About

The Dynamic Electric Motor’s novel design couples two BLDC motors to a single shaft; the first motor is optimized for torque and coupled via a sprag bearing clutch. The second motor is optimized for voltage directly coupled to the shaft. The system setup separates and independently operates motor torque and speed. The outcome is a consistent torque application to the shaft; this can broaden the efficient operating range of BLDC motors over a wide range.

Key Benefits

Creates 2-3 different torque constants within a single motor design Broadens the efficient operating range Creates the ability to run low motor speed at different shaft speeds

Applications
