Happy Cappy Shampoo was developed so that children now have a dermatologist tested, gentle cleansing, fragrance free shampoo that actually works to eliminate these bothersome symptoms.
About
One in three children in their first year of life get some degree of flaking, redness, scaling, and irritation of the scalp and skin. These bothersome symptoms are known as seborrheic dermatitis. Many families try oils or petroleum jelly which often leads to treatment failure and further frustration. Non-medicated cradle cap formulations currently available do not effectively treat this condition and lead to equal frustration. Many pediatricians encounter seborrheic dermatitis on average 2 to 4 times per day in their office. During my recent tenure as president of the Houston Pediatric Society, I surveyed the doctors and found that like myself 73% of doctors in the organization were recommending an adult dandruff shampoo (as suggested in the pediatric literature) to treat this pediatric condition. These adult dandruff shampoos work to address the issue of seborrheic dermatitis, but they were designed for the skin of an adult and many times have strong fragrances and surfactants that are not suited to dry, irritated skin. In addition, parents feel uncomfortable when an “adult” product is recommended to treat their 2 months old’s sensitive scalp. As a pediatrician weary of using scented products on delicate skin, I developed Happy Cappy so that children now have a dermatologist tested, gentle cleansing, fragrance free shampoo that actually works to eliminate these bothersome symptoms while taking into account skin that could easily be irritated with a scented product. Dr. Eddie’s Happy Cappy Medicated Shampoo contains the same active ingredient, Pyrithione Zinc, as some very popular adult dandruff shampoos, but Happy Cappy’s inactive ingredients were carefully selected for use on the youngest most sensitive skin. Happy Cappy contains Licorice Root Extract, a natural ingredient, which excites pediatric dermatologists as it actually helps to soothe redness and it appeals to many families’ desire for ingredients of natural origin. A large survey comprised of parents of diverse socioeconomic groups and a separate survey of local pediatricians concluded that potential consumers agreed that Happy Cappy’s amber bottle and label were child-friendly, modern, and attractive. The parent survey concluded that the vast majority of consumers were extremely likely or very likely to purchase the product were it available in stores, and 73% of pediatricians surveyed said they would recommend Happy Cappy when it came to market. I am proud to bring you Dr. Eddie's Happy Cappy Medicated Shampoo!
Key Benefits
Dr. Eddie’s Happy Cappy Medicated Shampoo is a pediatrician’s solution to fight flaking, itching, redness, scaling, and irritation on the scalp and skin for children of all ages. These bothersome symptoms are known as dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. Many people refer to seborrheic dermatitis as "cradle cap." Pediatricians regularly recommend adult dandruff shampoos for this condition because they contain an FDA approved active ingredient to control seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. Until now there was no children's dandruff control product. Happy Cappy is the first OTC (Over The Counter) shampoo made specifically for children of all ages with an FDA approved active ingredient, pyrithione zinc, which has been proven safe and effective for many decades for relief of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. Happy Cappy’s gentle, fragrance free, dermatologist tested formula eliminates flaking while still leaving the skin and hair soft and smooth. Happy Cappy is dye free, alcohol free, paraben free and contains and contains the natural ingredient Licorice Root Extract to help soothe redness behind ears, under armpits, and in neck folds.
