The isotopes are sealed behind magnetic and mechanical locks that will only open with the proper key device, allowing storage and shipment without transferring receptacles; earlier methods required moving the isotopes between various containers in passage, increasing the likelihood of contamination, leakage, or structural damage. This container uses mirrors and shielding to reduce escaping radiation from the isotope to minimal levels, prevents outside tampering, and removes the necessity for advanced training in isotope transportation. The container can easily be flooded with water for a variety of purposes. Many fields utilize radio-isotopes, including the medical, industrial, and food sectors. In order to transport these isotopes to their various destinations, they must be stored in a succession of containers and handled with care to avoid damage or radiation exposure. This device secures the isotopes for the duration of transport behind several locks and radiation shields (while minimizing radiation output to background levels), eliminating the need for a multitude of containers and the training necessary to handle them, while also protecting the isotopes from unwanted tampering. The container can also be flooded with liquid, allowing it to double as a water purifier.
