The low-cost, fast-scanning device leverages off-the-shelf optical components to create a novel optical design, which employs tilted mirrors and retro-reflectors to extend the field of view (FOV) while providing a high angular resolution. Background: Conventional Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) range finders are costly, often have small fields of view, and can be slow in determining distances with good angular resolution.
