About
Summary: Scientists at Rutgers and RAD (a biotechnology start-up) have designed a way to eliminate many false positives in highly sensitive research and diagnostic technologies. Competitive Surface Probes (CSPs) can be integrated into Quantitative Recognition Arrays to both quantify target concentrations and substantially reduce the occurrence of false positives. The CSPs use the thermodynamics of competitive differential hybridization to obtain a more careful reading of the target’s binding affinity. This technology allows the binding affinity to be rationally modulated to create useful signal ranges optimized for a given diagnostic platform. The CSPs are applicable to a wide variety of previously developed biosensor and diagnostic technologies. Market Application: Diagnostics, Bioinformatics, Microfluidics, Research Applications RT- PCR, Biosensors. Advantages: Reduces false positives in existing technologies.; Works for both DNA-meter and Apta-meter (protein, small molecules, etc.) diagnostics; Can work with fluorescence technologies.
