We have developed a breakthrough technology that provides a new low cost and environmentally friendly textile fibre made directly from cellulose without dissolving.
About
We develop new, pure bio-based materials for the textile industry with a unique method. Our R&D is based on the technology we have created. What differentiates us from other bio-based textile materials is that our process includes no dissolving or any other harmful and complex chemical processes. We are the only company in the world able to convert pulp directly into textile fibre without harmful chemicals. The process is based on mechanical treatment of the pulp, as well as fibre suspension flows and rheology. The finely ground pulp mass flows through a unique nozzle, where the fibres and fibrils rotate and align with the flow, creating a strong, elastic fibre network. The fibre is then spun and dried, suitable as-is for spinning into yarn and then knitting or weaving into fabric elsewhere.
Key Benefits
Our innovation and business rationale is based on the biggest megatrend of the planet: a growing population and the limited capacity of the environment to bear it. The textile industry is the 2nd largest polluter in the world, with various severe environmental challenges. A natural, cellulosic, biodegradable fibre that is produced without harmful chemicals, 99% less water consumption than cotton and minimum energy consumption, is what the industry needs.
Applications
Our objective is that our fibre is used for various textiles (apparel, shoes) in the fashion and home textiles industry, both as fabric and padding. We are also in the process of developing the fibre to suit e.g. wipes, filters, packaging and medical textiles, as well as bio composites in different industries.
