We have developed a technology platform to turn plant based materials into bioadhesive. The bioadhesive can be used to make bio-composite as alternatives to plastics.
About
Cambond has developed a plant based resin which can be used as an industrial adhesive for construction products in wood panel industry to replace cancer-causing toxic formaldehyde based resin. We have IP to cover non-added formaldehyde bioresin system to be used in making MDF, OSB, particle board and plywood. Cambond resin allows for environmentally friendly manufacture of construction products (wood panels, other materials) to be made in existing manufacturing facilities at competitive cost. In addition, Cambond resin can be combined with many types of biomass fibres or polymers to make a range of biomass composites which offer environmental and commercial advantages. Cambond 's clean technology solves the 2 largest problems manufacturers have in looking for environmentally friendly materials for their products: 1) Cost - alternatives to plastics are more expensive than the materials they replace. 2) Supply - alternatives are often available in limited supplies inhibiting large scale change. Cambond provides a solution to these issues. Our materials are largely plant based (>50%) and so enjoy the commercial advantage of a lower cost feedstock. Biomass by products from agriculture are available all over the world in very large quantities. • Cambond composites can replace plastics in existing manufacturing processes which use moulding and extrusion to make a wide range of products. • Cambond composites can be manufactured and supplied to manufacturers for LESS than the cost of their current virgin plastics. • Cambond has a library of patents to cover the technology. Some of these patents ARE granted in China and the US. Cambond is bringing its technology to market and scaling up operations. Our technology can be used in EXISTING manufacturing processes to substitute plant/biomass feedstocks for oil feedstock and provide significant commercial and environmental benefits in manufacture. In a cost competitive world our technology fits in well with the resource available in places where produce millions of tonnes of biomass per year as by-products of agriculture (straws, sugarcanes etc.). These materials have commercial cost advantages and could be used to replace wood or plastics in the manufacture of many products. IP is a core component of Cambond’s business. We have taken significant steps and expenditure to file patents and protect this intellectual property. We have worked with Reddie and Grosse (Cambridge) to develop our IP portfolio. Cambond are in the process to the investment in the Europe , US and China to grow the business in scale and commercialise the intellectual property. WE will grow a global business with manufacturing capability in major markets around the world. Cambond has set up a development facility at the NIAB Innovation Hub in Soham, Newmarket, where it is able to demonstrate it's innovative technology to potential customers and business partners. We are in the process to run Innovate UK projects for turning environmental problems into valuable commercial opportunities producing large reductions in the carbon footprint of UK manufacturing and a materials technology which embodies circular economy principles. One of the many examples, we can turn used coffee ground into reusable coffee cups. Our Innovation in the use of multiple waste streams will be commercially competitive and help meet one of the Grand Challenges - Clean Growth. Cambond won the third prize in the competition of Climate-Kic Cleanlaunch Pad business in October 2014, which is the largest EEC competition of CleanTech business. Cambond has entered the Climte-Kic Accelerator UK for increasing the business development in its low-carbon biomass based green glue for wood panel industry in 2014. Cambond is member of Cambridge Cleantech – central capital of environment technology all over the world. It is also the winner of Cambridge News Top Innovative Company. The core technology as named as the finalist in Royal Society of Chemistry Emerging Technology Competition in 2014. Cambond is a Rushlight award winner company for Sustainability in Manufacturing and Service (2015-2016). We also win two awards in the Cleantech Innovate London 2016 named as Columbus Cleantech Innovate Award 2016 and Smith & Williamson Cross Sector Innovation Award of Clean Tech Innovate 2016. We have been awarded as The Year of Innovator in New Energy and CleanTech Competition and also was named as Kevin’s Green Heroes in Kevin’s the Grand Design London Live 2016. Cambond is regional winner for Shell Springboard 2018 and Winner for RWM Excellence in Innovation (Waste Management ) 2019.
