This royalty free technology uses materials of different dielectric properties to shape the radiated beam in a narrow pattern.

About

This royalty free technology uses materials of different dielectric properties to shape the radiated beam in a narrow pattern. Technology has been modelled using ANSOFT HFSS and a demonstrator built at 1.264Ghz showing proof of principle. The research team wish to develop this technology in UWB applications and seek commercial partners operating in this area developing tags, readers or other compact mobile devices. In addition to the above opportunities the research group offers expertise in design, test and modelling of RF antenna across a broad range of frequencies. IP Status Part of Heriot-Watt "Open for Business" IP portfolio; PCT Patent 07148097A3: COMPACT ANTENNA has been allowed to lapse and this technology is therefore offered on a "worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable royalty free basis only" and is subject to the terms and conditions of a signed agreement between the licensor and the University.
