User experience - long, convoluted passwords are redundant, additionally as the biometric is stored on the server the end user can login from whatever channel they please (tablet, phone, PC) all that is required is a camera and/or mic. Regulation - PSD2 will soon be in force, a section of which is called Stronger Customer Authentication where a biometric can be used as on of two factors to strongly authenticate someone. Fraud prevention - standard security mechanisms like passwords, passcodes, SMS OTPs etc are not only a poor user experience but very weak in security terms. They're easily forgotten, easily shared and easily found out. Cost reduction - at scale, an API call (e.g. one facial authentication) will cost £0.0075 - showing a clear ROI in comparison to other solutions out there today.
