A device that takes advantage of water’s potential energy more efficiently than conventional turbines and that through a cyclical linear movement can generate electricity

About

PROBLEM / OPORTUNITY: Conventional hydro generators present a great disadvantage, they require the kinetic energy of water to generate movement with a maximum of 90% efficiency. However, as it is one of the only alternatives with constant firm power (vs wind and solar), it is still necessary as a compliment in large power plants and alternatives are required to avoid the need to have an important water source and that can increase the efficiency of energy exploitation. PROPOSAL: An artificial bubble that takes advantage of water’s potential energy more efficiently than conventional mechanisms (turbines) and that through a cyclical linear movement can generate electricity for small and large-scale use. DETAILS: The system consists of a body of liquid housed in a container and an artificial bubble. The bubble uses the principles of Archimedes and gravity to move in a straight line from the surface to the base of the container and back to change the content of its interior. When the bubble is on the surface, liquid enters and when it reaches the base it dislodges the liquid and gas enters. Preliminary calculations indicate that it has a capacity to generate movement with an efficiency of 95%. VALUE PROPOSITION Hydroelectric generation plants more efficient and with the possibility of implementing micro plants taking advantage of the current infrastructure. (application in buildings of the city) The diameter of the bubble can be variable according to requirement and does not require a water source in movement.

Key Benefits

-It doesn't require water source in movement. -Efficiency. -It can be implemented in multiple applications including sustainable buildings, micro plants, macro plants and as a complement to plants without firm power.

Applications

Independent power plants or as a complement to plants with firm power not available as solar farms Microcentral in existing buildings that take advantage of the water pressure of the existing infrastructure to maximize the efficiency of the system and supply the building.
