The antenna geometry and structure proposed is composed of three patches, six shorting pins and ferrite loading in various sizes and shapes. The pins generate a strong vertical surface current for a monopole antenna with omnidirectional radiation characteristics and vertical polarization. Additionally, the antenna height is less than 6 mm over a ground plane. The three radiating patches enable the multiband capability with three frequency bands. The ferrite loading enables miniaturization of the antenna, while improving antenna gain and reducing cross-polarization.
