A set of new multi-touch interface schemes for 3D modeling and editing.
About
Invention 3D modeling software is notoriously difficult to use, with complex interfaces that require tedious mouse operations. Touch-based input devices have now become commonplace and 3D object display/ manipulation will be more popular. Simple 3D object control for touch-based input devices is essential. This new technique does not require any complex manipulation widgets but candidate axes, which are for visualization rather than direct manipulation. Such design does not only minimize visual clutter but also tolerates imprecise touch-based inputs. To further expand the axis-based interaction vocabulary, intuitive touch gestures for relative manipulations has been introduced, including snapping and borrowing axes of another object. This technique can be used with single hand for either direct manipulation or indirect manipulation, and is more applicable to different interaction scenarios for portable multitouch devices. Marketing Opportunity Market of this new technique covers the following a wide variety of industries:- The movie and game industries, which use it to create and manipulate characters and objects; The medical and science sector, which builds detailed models of organs or chemical compounds; The architecture industry, which creates models of buildings and landscapes; The engineering community uses 3D software to design new products. Key Benefits The followings have been developed: A set of new multi-touch interface schemes for 3D modeling and editing Software libraries and application programming interfaces (APIs) of our finger registration method and multitouch interfaces for 3D manipulation A prototype 3D modeling and editing system that uses our multitouch interfaces - block assembling system
