A complete cloud system to enable real-time 3D mapping from unmanned aerial vehicles and helicopters.

About

Invention This invention is a cloud-based computing service to allow users to upload their video footages that are captured with their small UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and create orthographic mosaic (orthomosaic) maps and reconstruct the 3D models. Our solution is complementary to the current satellite imagery and high-altitude aerial imagery, which are more suitable for large coverage surveillance. The key technologies behind our system are the fully automatic structure from motion, semantic segmentation, and 3D modeling technologies that we have been developed. Marketing Opportunity Many civilians applications such as transportation, agriculture, and mining can be benefit from such high-resolution and short-latency aerial imagery that are complementary to the large-coverage and long-latency satellite and high-altitude aerial imagery. This cloud-based service is a great added value for the current small UAV hardware. As the control and mechanical components are well established in the past decades, it is crucial to provide extra value-added software in order to carve out a piece of the small UAV market. Key Benefits Provides higher resolution and short-latency update for the mapping and 3D reconstruction Suitable for large coverage surveillance A complete cloud system to enable a real-time 3D mapping
